Omnikin, Super Balls and Super Games

Omnikin/Kin-Ball is a great unit to help students learn cooperation, sharing and teamwork through low organized games while staying physically active. The sport of Kin-Ball, is a team sport created in QuebecCanada in 1986 by Mario Demers, a physical education professor, in which the main distinctive characteristics are the big size of the ball and that the matches are played between three teams at the same time.

Cross Country District Meet 2 and Divisional Meet

The 2nd cross country running meet was on Sept 24 and Stevenson ran against the 3 other district schools (Linwood, Assiniboine and Brooklands).  All grade 4 and 5 students ran the course very well and gained some great experience for the Divisional Meet.

The Divisional Meet was on Oct. 2 at Assiniboine park from 12:15-1:00 pm.  Stevenson had 30 runners in total and each race was split up by gender and grade level. Stevenson ran against the other 12 schools from St. James Assiniboia and all runners ran best times and were able to experience a real cross country meet. I would like to thank Mrs. Havixbeck, Mr. Miller and Mrs. Ross for assisting with supervision and the SJAEYAA cross country association for setting up the meet.  Each year our Divisional meet improves and is becoming a very organized and professional looking meet thanks to the committee.
